GIS Analyst – San Diego Office
We are looking for a full-time GIS Analyst in our San Diego office. WRA has a dedicated GIS department which works on specialized GIS projects and provides cartographic and analytic support to the other departments within the organization.
This position is a great opportunity for a skilled GIS user to gain experience in the Environmental and Consulting sectors. The GIS Analyst will be the primary GIS support person for projects based out the San Diego office. They will also provide GIS support to other WRA projects throughout the state. Possible work tasks for the GIS Analyst may include habitat mapping, vegetation mapping, wetland delineation mapping, cartographic production for various WRA client reports, geographic data management, geospatial analysis, and GPS data processing.
This position will require a significant amount of remote coordination to work closely with the rest of the GIS team in San Rafael in order to maintain a high level of quality and consistency in work products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or other related and relevant fields of study.
- 3-5 years of post-educational professional experience using Esri ArcGIS for Desktop software (version 10.X-10.5).
Ideal candidates should possess familiarity with common geospatial data standards (shapefile, geodatabase, KML, etc.) and an understanding of geospatial analysis fundamentals.
Other highly desired skills, which will set a qualified candidate apart, include the following:
- online GIS experience (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Portal)
- mobile GIS app experience (Collector for ArcGIS, Survey 123)
- geoprocess scripting using Python
- graphic design experience using Adobe Creative Suite products
- UAV operation and data processing, FAA Part 107 training and certification
- remote sensing experience using eCognition software
- professional certifications including GISP
The possibility of fieldwork exists for this position as well, so experience performing environmental surveys in the field is also a plus.
