WRA Freshwater Ecosystem Expert Featured in Ecesis Newsletter

The Winter edition of Ecesis, the newsletter of the California Society for Ecological Restoration, is hot off the presses and features an article by WRA Wildlife Biologist Joan Damerow titled “Biodiversity and Vulnerability of Aquatic Insects in California”.

Dr. Damerow is a freshwater ecologist specializing in biological monitoring, water and habitat quality, and aquatic invertebrates.  She developed the first database of all known stream-inhabiting species of select groups in the California Mediterranean region. For part of her PhD research, she reviewed existing knowledge of California stream biodiversity, including an assessment of species that have been evaluated for conservation status and data gaps.
