WRA Fisheries Biologist Dan Chase invited to present at upcoming IEP workshop

The Interagency Ecological Program (IEP), provides ecological information and scientific leadership for use in management of the San Francisco Estuary for adaptive management, water project operations, and planning and regulatory purposes relative to endangered fish and the aquatic ecosystem.

IEP’s Annual Workshop will be held April 20-22, 2016 in Folsom, California and focuses on sharing new research results and technical analyses that advance the understanding of scientific topics important to the IEP and the larger Delta science community.

herring poster at IEPFisheries Biologist Dan Chase has been invited to present a poster on WRA’s open source Pacific herring spawn potential GIS map viewer (click here to learn more about the viewer). The presentation will focus on how this tool helps determine probability of herring spawning locations throughout the San Francisco Bay and its application as a reference tool for evaluating risks of performing in water work during the spawning season. Abstracts will be posted on the workshop website in PDF format by April 8th.

The conference will feature speakers from California Department of Fish and Wildlife, California Department of Water Resources, National Marine Fisheries Services, San Francisco Estuary Institute, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as academics from institutions in California, Colorado, and Oregon.
