Greater sage-grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus)

We are proud to announce that WRA, Inc. has been hired to serve as the technical advisor of the Colorado Habitat Exchange. The Exchange is an innovative market-based program for greater sage-grouse conservation in Colorado. The program is expected to be a triple win for landowners, industry and conservation. Landowners will be paid based on the success of conservation actions they undertake on their lands. Industry will have a clear path to manage liability related to greater sage-grouse and other target species in Colorado. Conservation will get a big boost with millions of dollars expected to be available to protect species habitat in Northwestern Colorado. WRA has three decades of experience in developing species conservation banks and habitat restoration projects and we have strong ties to Colorado industry and ranching communities. WRA will ensure that the Exchange operates as a transparent system that incorporates local stakeholder perspectives, preserves scientific integrity, and conducts transactions that are fair and efficient.

Exchange pilot projects are expected to launch this summer! Please check back in with us in mid-June for additional information on the Colorado Habitat Exchange, including guidance on how to participate in the program. In the meantime, please direct your questions to Ben Guillon.
