The July 2023 issue of Bay Nature magazine includes an article (written and illustrated by Lia Keener) titled “Why a Mouse Matters” which features a first-of-its-kind rangewide survey for the salt marsh harvest mouse. Funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, WRA’s Katie Smith, PhD led the survey with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Suisun Resource Conservation District, East Bay Regional Park District, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The team performed live trapping and eDNA surveys at nearly 100 sites throughout the San Francisco Bay tidal lands.
