WRA congratulates a number of our team members for achieving major career milestones with the company! Our gratitude to each for their years of service and contributions to the company’s success.

In September 2023, we celebrate Bianca Clarke, a Senior Regulatory Permitting Specialist with WRA who marks her 15th year at the company this year! We appreciate her time in helping to share part of her WRA journey with us and inspire the next generation of environmental consultants!

Tell us about your career path over your tenure with WRA.

Bianca: I had no idea what environmental consulting was like before WRA. I was still in grad school at the time and had no idea what to expect [she earned her Master’s degree in Ecology & Systematic Biology from San Francisco State University in 2013]. After a few short months of being at WRA, I knew this was the path for me. I vowed to try to get my hands in as many cookie jars of experience as I could. Those opportunities allowed me to grow my village of mentors and it is only because of their support that I am where I am today.

What would your current self tell your past self when you first started at WRA?

Bianca: Relax and remember that everyone is new at something at some point and that even after 15 years, there are still things to learn.

What has been your most memorable project that you have worked on at WRA?

A very memorable project for me which was completed in 2022 is a bank stabilization project for the Children’s Health Council along San Francisquito Creek in Palo Alto, California. WRA designed a living crib wall to stabilize the failed bank without disturbing the existing channel banks to minimize the potential for natural resources (including critical habitat for steelhead) and cultural resources. I served as project manager and led the resource agency permitting process. To see something as complex as this project successfully approved and built and knowing you helped make that happen, adds a little extra pep in my step.
