In September 2025, WRA Biologist Beth Sabo was invited to join the Sonoma County Forest Conservation Working Group at Rancho Mark West for their annual picnic under the redwoods. Her talk focused on local aquatic species and their habitat, including a walk along Mark West Creek to look at some frogs up close and help participants distinguish between the invasive American bullfrog and the native foothill yellow-legged frog (FYLF).

Note: Beth holds a California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Scientific Collecting Permit for FYLF. The demonstration took place within the only population segment in California that is not listed as endangered or threatened.
