GIS Analyst

Overview

Chris Zumwalt received his BS in Geography from the University of Nevada at Reno and completed the requirements for a minor in Biology.  His studies in geography emphasized cartography and the use of geographical information systems (GIS).  Chris has extensive experience with many GIS applications including ArcGIS, MapInfo, and Smallworld as well as multiple ESRI extensions including Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst. Chris is also WRA’s ArcGIS Online Administrator and is responsible for maintaining ArcGIS Server for the company.  He is also proficient with AutoCAD, eCognition 9.2, Pix4D Mapper, computer information technology, database maintenance, Microsoft Access and Excel.

Chris has extensive experience using global positioning systems (GPS) and the associated software including ArcPad, TerraSync, and Pathfinder.  He also has recently developed customized ESRI Collector applications which have streamlined gathering of field data.  Chris is currently studying to get his FAA Commercial Drone Pilot license for collection of remotely sensed data.

He has diverse GIS management experience from projects that include public transportation, biological resources mapping, watershed hydrology analysis, utility and infrastructure planning, vegetation mapping, land use planning, natural hazard assessment, and remote sensing.  He is very experienced at translating both spatial and tabular data across different software formats and platforms.  His experience and knowledge using ArcGIS ModelBuilder has proven to increase efficiency on many projects with similar analysis needs.  Chris has also developed and implemented many custom geoprocessing models with ArcGIS ModelBuilder in order to automate repetitive processes or to perform similar analysis across multiple projects.
