Chris Zumwalt received his BS in Geography from the University of Nevada at Reno and completed the requirements for a minor in Biology. His studies in geography emphasized cartography and the use of geographical information systems (GIS). Chris has extensive experience with many GIS applications including ArcGIS, MapInfo, and Smallworld as well as multiple ESRI extensions including Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, and Publisher. He is also trained in AutoCAD, computer information technology, database maintenance, Microsoft Access, and programming with Visual Basic.
Chris has extensive experience using global positioning systems (GPS) and the associated software including ArcPad, TerraSync, and Pathfinder. Chris is also extremely experienced at creating custom data collection dictionaries and integrating GPS data into the GIS environment. He is proficient in the re-projection of data in real world coordinates as well as working with aerial photographs and other images. Chris has diverse GIS experience from projects that include public transportation, road and highway improvement, biological resources mapping, watershed analysis, utility and infrastructure planning, vegetation mapping, soil survey analysis, land-use planning, natural hazard assessment, and remote sensing. He is very experienced at translating both spatial and tabular data across different software formats and platforms. His knowledge in this area has proven to increase efficiency and data accuracy on numerous projects.
