The Sonoma County Forest Conservation Working Group, in partnership with the County of Sonoma and the Santa Rosa Junior College, is hosting the Living with Fire: Sonoma County Forest Conservation Conference on June 23, 2023 in Forestville.
A community centric conference centered on managing forestland, the event will discuss challenges of uncertainties of climate change, conversion, declining activity, diminishing infrastructure, disease, fragmentation, increasing regulation, invasive species, and increasing risk of wildfire; while balancing discussions of opportunities for the forest’s valuable resources worth protecting: carbon sequestration, clean air, clean water, recreational use, timber production, and wildlife habitat, among many others. This event is designed to help the community’s forestland residents, landowners, land managers, and stakeholders feel confident about what you can do and feel supported where you need help.
WRA’s resiliency team members including Jason Mills will be on hand to support a landscape restoration demonstration and Molly Curley O’Brien will be at our exhibitor table to discuss WRA’s capabilities in supporting the full lifecycle fuel treatment projects from funding, planning, surveys and compliance, through implementation.
